Lorraine Heavey
Lorraine is a new name to the UK’s music world but with an accomplished voice and elegant and stylish sound, you would be forgiven for thinking the Irish singer was a seasoned pro.
A chance meeting with her idol Barbra Streisand in Italy a couple of years ago, gave Lorraine the drive to focus once again on her own music after raising three children. The result being a confident and compelling collection of original songs and covers, released in the autumn of 2018.
Lorraine has honed her sound into a smooth and soulful blend of jazz and pop with a distinct Celtic flavour - a nod to her Irish roots.
Her own songs, tackle universal topics like love, loss, pain and physical attraction.
Inspiration originally came from Lorraine’s formative record collection which included Bobby Freeman’s seminal version of Do You Wanna Dance, as well as some Gilbert O’Sullivan and Manhattan Transfer. Influences since have been equally diverse – she cites Earth Wind & Fire, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Frank Sinatra, Andrea Bocelli, Pavarotti and the King of Pop himself, Michael Jackson but her two biggest influences are Barbra Streisand and Ella Fitzgerald, hence the recent jazz set she has compiled with her band Lorraine and The Flames, covering many of the great melodies from The Great American Songbook.

It was a brilliant set and Lorraine was stunning and her voice is amazing. The Flames are incredibly talented. The repertoire contained a beautifully composed selection. The introductions to each song were thoughtful and gave insight. It was a marvellous evening, and I would definitely go to another.
